Nail of the Day: OPI Ink

Well, I'm back to the dark polish again! I just can't stay away from it. I am in love with this nail varnish! I bought this a few weeks ago and when I spotted it today, I realised that I hadn't actually used it yet. This nail varnish is quite thin, so I applied 3 coats but the result is amazing. This nail varnish is a lovely deep purple colour and it is kind of duo-tone because it has pink and blue glitter it in, so in different lights it does look slightly different.

This colour actually reminds me of space, as it looks sort of galaxy-ish. If that makes any sense!

I hope you have a great day and don't forget to follow! :D

Adele Inspired Make-Up Tutorial

For The Face
Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
Concealer: YSL Touche Eclat
Blusher: Empire by MAC

For The Eyes

Step 1: Start by priming your eyes with a long lasting primer. (You can see my Top Eye Shadow Primer review here. )

Step 2: Apply a light frost colour (I used Shroom by MAC) all over the lower lid and take it slightly above the crease.

~

Step 3: Apply a deep burgundy to the crease using a crease brush. ( I used Sketch by MAC)

~

Step 4: Do winged eye liner using a matte black gel eye liner( I used Blacktrack by MAC). She usually wears it quite thick, so I took it a little below my crease but this really is dependant on your eye size.

~

Step 5: Then take a matte black eye shadow and press it onto the eye liner to set it.

~

Step 6: Taking that same black, apply it to the outer half of the lower lash line.

~

Step 7: Take the burgundy colour again, and apply it to the inner part of the lower lash line.

~

Step 8: Apply black eye liner to the upper water line, and then squeeze eyes shut tight so that it transfers to the lower water line.

~

Step 9: Apply false lashes and fill in eyebrows.

For The Lips

She usually wears a matte red lip, I used a lip colour by Rimmel but unfortunately the writing has rubbed off it, so I'm not sure what shade it is.

I hope you found this helpful! Have a nice day and don't forget to follow! :D

Nail of the Day: Windy City Pretty by OPI

I really wanted to girlie-up my nails as, as per usual, I have been wearing a lot of dark colours again. When I came across this one in my collection I though it was perfect. I would describe this colour as a dusky rose, with very fine iridescent glitter, which is hardly noticeable, but gives a really nice effect.

I hope you have a nice day and don't forget to follow! :D

Nail of the Day: Glitzy Zebra Print

(Above: Glitzy Zebra Print with flash)

Today I decided to add some glitzy glimmer to my nails with some zebra print on top just for good measure! I started this look with 2 coats of 'Blue Moon' by Models Own which is a gorgeous bluey-silver colour. I then applied the zebra print design using black nail varnish, the Konad stamper kit and the Konad M57 image plate. You can find full instructions on how to use the stamper on their website here. I then topped it off with a high shine top coat (Seche Vite).

Have a great day and don't forget to follow! :)

Glossybox: February 2012

What was in February's Glossybox?

-Duwop Venom Gloss in 'Buttercup'
-Dr Bronner Magic Liquid Soap
- Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Relaxing Balm
-BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow in 'Storm Cloud'
-Como Shambhala Conditioner (although on the info card it says that it is meant to be body lotion)

The first item in my Glossybox was this Paul Mitchell hair product. It claims to be an 'Intense hydrating treatment for your hair'. When I first pumped this out it seemed a little greasy but when I applied it to my hair it glided on effortlessly and made my hair feel smooth and silky, and tamed any fly-aways.

The next item in my box was this 'Magic Liquid Soap' by Dr Bronner. The 'magic' part is about this soap, is that it can be used in 18 different ways e.g face wash, body wash, shampoo etc, etc. It has a lovely rose scent which actually smells like Turkish Delight. It lathers up really nicely and a little goes a long way. It leaves your skin feeling squeaky clean and fresh.

~

My favourite product out of my box is this DuWop Venom Gloss in 'Buttercup'. It's a 'subtly tinted lip gloss with DuWop's lip venop to make Venom Gloss.'  This lip gloss feels really nice on, it does tingle, but not so much that it becomes uncomfortable like with some plumping lip glosses. The colour is really nice and is versatile as it can be worn over a lipstick or on its own.  It also lasts on your lips for a really long time.

The fourth item in February's Glossybox was this mineral eye shadow from BM Beauty. At first glance I thought this was really clumpy and a bland colour. But once I put my brush in it it breaks up and is as soft as baby powder. As for the colour it's not a very exciting colour, but it is very wearable. The colour is not that pigmented so you would have to build it up.

The last item in the box was this Como Shambhala Conditioner. This product is absolutely amazing! I left it in my hair for two minutes and when I rinsed it out my hair felt incredibly soft and my brush glided through my long hair effortlessly. Also, this smells really nice, it has a clean, fresh smell and the scent really clings to your hair so you get whiffs of it throughout the day.

I personally didn't think this months box was that exciting, but there are some nice products in it. There was also a card included in the box stating simply 'Expect The Unexpected' and then it gives you a web address to check out after the 24th February. I'm not quite sure what this is about but it sounds intriguing...

I hope you find this helpful and let me know what you thought of your Glossybox or if you have any questions about it. Have a nice day and don't forget to follow! :)

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Inspired Make Up Tutorial

Today I will be doing a tutorial for the Olsen twins signature look- The Brown Smoky Eye. They wear this look day and night, and adapt it just my simply changing their lip colour. This make up really makes green eyes pop so is great for creating a bright eye effect. Enjoy the tutorial :)

For The Face
Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in shade 52
Blusher: Rimmel Multi-Tonal Powder Blush in 'Autumn Catwalk'

For The Eyes

Step 1: Prime your eyes, I used UD Primer Potion. (See my Top 3 Eye Shadow Primer Review here. )  .

Step 2: Apply a Medium-Brown Bronze (I used Smog by Urban Decay) all over the lower part of your lid and blend into your crease.

Step 3: Using that same colour on a slightly larger brush, apply it along the lower lash line, bringing it slightly further down that you usually would.

Step 4: Apply an inner corner highlight using a light frost colour (I used Shroom by MAC).

Step 5: Line your upper and lower waterline with a deep black eye liner ( I used Smoulder by MAC).

Step 6: Curl eyelashes and apply a volumizing mascara.

Step 7: The Olsen twins often have thick, defined eyebrows, so I used MAC Penultimate Brow Pen, to fill them in and MAC Brown Set to tame them and make sure all the hairs are going in the right direction!

For The Lips

For daytime they tend to wear light pink lips. I used 'Lovelorn' by MAC.

For Night-time they vamp it up with a deep red shade of lipstick/lip gloss. I used Yves Saint Laurent Golden Gloss in number 17, which has great pay-off and smells AMAZING!

I hope you found this tutorial helpful and don't forget to follow! :)

Nail of the Day: 17 Magnetized Nail Polish in 'Grey'

I've had this polish for a while now but I haven't worn it in a number of months, so I thought it was about time to dig it out and use it. I forgot just how easy this is to use. You just paint on the first coat, let that dry, then paint on the second coat, hover the magnet over it for about 10 seconds and voila! You're done. Easy nail art.    Another thing I love about this polish is its brush, it has a really thin brush which is great for my nails as they're only little (and short too at the moment!) I'm not sure if all 17 polishes have the same brush as this is the only one I've ever had.

Have a nice day, and don't forget to follow! :)

L'Oreal Paris Double Extension Beauty Tubes Mascara Review

First, a confession: I'm a mascara junkie. Even if I find a really good mascara that's perfect for my eye lashes, I won't repurchase it as I want to try out the new ones on the market. So, I'm always trying out different types, volumizing, false lash effect, lengthening, all of them, and I must say that this is one of the best lengthening mascaras I have purchased in a while. This is a double sided, 2-step mascara, the first side/step is a primer and the second is the mascara. When the primer is applied to the eyelashes is creates a 'tube' around   the eyelash and extends the natural lash. You then wait 30 seconds for the primer to dry and then the mascara is applied and this aids with the lengthening even more, and colours your eyelashes super dark (which I especially look for in mascaras).

(See Photos Below.)

Advantage
Does exactly what it says on the tin! It lengthens my eyelashes and make my eyes seem wider and more awake.

Disadvantage
Removal. It does remove really easily with warm water, and does just glide off in tubes. But if you've had a long day and can't be bothered taking your make up off properly and want to just take it off with a make up wipe, it won't remove the mascara. It does only come off with warm water.

Nail of the Day: Pinky Brown by Models Own.

(Above: Models Own -'Pinky brown'. With flash)

I bought this varnish the other day along with 'Blue Moon' and 'Aqua Violet' although I've yet to try these two.  'Pinky Brown' and 'Aqua Violet' are both from Models Own 'Beetlejuice' line. The line has 5 beautiful, multi-tonal nail varnishes. It looks a completely different colour in different type of lights (like wearing multiple nail varnishes!) It's absolutely amazing, 'Pinky Brown' is definitely one of my new favourites and I can't wait to try out the others.

Emma Stone Golden Globes Make Up Tutorial

(Above: Rather wonky photo of end result.)

Emma Stone wore this look to the 2012 Golden Globes. She looked absolutely stunning in a floor length purple gown embellished with jewels on the sleeves. You can see the photo that inspired this look here.

Right, let's get started with the tutorial.

For The Face
Foundation: Chanel Pro Lumiere
Concealer: Yves Saint Laurent Touch Eclat
Blusher: Barbara Daly Cheek To Cheek Blusher in 'Petal'

For The Eyes

Step 1: First, prime your eyes (I used Urban Decay Primer Potion). Then line the upper and lower waterline with a black eye liner.

~

Step 2: Apply a silver eye shadow all over the lower part of your eyelid (I used Body Shop Shimmer Cube.)

~

Step 3: Then apply a dark grey colour into the outer part of your crease (I used Gunmetal by Urban Decay) and wing it out so that it comes to a point.

~

Step 4: Using a dark purple eye shadow (I used Eggplant by Bobbi Brown) , apply this just to the very outer part of your eyelid.

~

Step 5: Using that same purple, apply it to the crease on the very inner part of your eye.

Step 6: Take the silver eye shadow again and apply it to the lower lash line.

Step 7: Blend out the eye shadow on the lid using a large fluffy brush.

~

Step 8: Curl your eyelashes and apply mascara to your upper and lower lashes.

For The Lips
I lined and coloured my lips in using Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in 'Tiramisu' then applied a clear gloss over the top.
